It's All About the Underpants

After a long day of playing outside and no nap, Eser decided to put Gabe down for a cat nap around 4:15. Eser calls me about an hour an a half later to tell me that Gabe was up. Eser discovered Gabe was awake, not because Gabe called out to him or because he heard him playing, but because he heard Gabe go into the bathroom, lift the toilet seat and start peeing. I think it's pretty safe to say that somebody is becoming quite the big boy! I tell ya, it's all about the underpants! We've been trying off and on for a while to get Gabriel to use the potty. Some days he did, some days he didn't. There was never any consistency. The only time that using the potty was a 'sure thing' was when we were out and about or at a friend's house. He always chose to use the potty in foreign locations, like he was a little bathroom inspector or something. Anyway, the key to our new found potty training success is superhero underwear. Gabe loves, loves, loves his Marvel Comic superheros. It started with Spider Man, then transitioned to the Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer, but now we are very focused on Iron Man - Iron Man ball, Iron Man lunch box, Iron Man underwear. Of course, the Iron Man underwear also came with Hulk underwear, Spider Man underwear, Captain America underwear, etc. He LOVES his underwear. He insists upon wearing it, and of course he doesn't want to get it wet or dirty, so he uses the potty with little to no urging from us. Hooray for superhero underwear!!
