Gabe and I had an extended weekend this past weekend, and we got to spend the entire 3 days together. It was wonderful!
Friday started off with what seems to be our new Friday morning routine – breakfast at the Neptune Diner before preschool. Then off to school. It was my day to assist in the classroom (hence one of the reasons behind taking the day off from work). He was a very busy boy – planting seeds for Mother’s Day gifts (that I’m not supposed to know anything about…), painting and cutting in the art center, and playing outside in the sandbox. School was followed by lunch and a trip to Central Market, and then off to Binns Park to splash in the fountain. We LOVE Binns Park! After an afternoon nap, we were off to Strasburg to for a pizza and a playdate with our good friends Kari, Macie and Josh. Did I mention that Macie and Josh have a trampoline??? Gabe would’ve bounced all night long if I let him.

Saturday morning started with a trip to Lancaster County Central Park to participate in the Trike-a-thon fundraiser benefiting his school, Lancaster Cooperative Preschool. Facepainting, a clown, a playground, hot dogs and tricycle riding, all along the Conestoga River – a toddler couldn’t ask for a better way to spend the morning. The afternoon was spent at Gabe’s good friend, Lily’s, 6th birthday party. ‘Tis the season… This past weekend was the first of 6 weekends in a row with birthday parties, and one of those weekends has 2 parties to attend. Whew. I’m tired just thinking about it.
Ready to go!
Speed demon!
Sunday, with its heat and humidity, found us back at Binns Park for a playdate with Gabe’s buddy, Atticus, followed by ice cream at Carmen and David’s Creamery, or, as Gabe refers to it, ‘the ice cream shop’. On our walk back home, of course we passed by Binns Park, so Gabe once again had to get out of the stroller for some additional splashing. The evening was topped off by a very brief visit from Gradma Lucy, who stopped in for about 5 minutes, dropping off a big bag of oranges fresh from Florida. She gave out hugs and kisses, and then was off again. That woman doesn’t stay put for too long. Hopefully the next time she’s in town she’ll stay a tad bit longer. Living outside Orlando, we don’t get to see her too often.
Unfortunately, Monday was back to the old routine of me going to work and Gabe going to the sitter’s. I spent almost the entire day yesterday going through Gabe withdraw…
